Baranowitz + Kronenberg Crafts Beach Club in Cyprus

International architecture practice Baranowitz + Kronenberg (B+K) is set to unveil its interior design of the Antasia Beach Club in Cyprus this May. Blending into the dunes of the Paphos beachfront, the indoor-outdoor restaurant concept and beach club from Thanos Hotels & Resorts was crafted to reflect the beauty of nature and simple pleasures.

“Simplicity was a key theme for this most tranquil of settings,” says B+K cofounder Irene Kronenberg. “It is a space to take time, inhale the scenery deep into our body and soul and forget about anything else.”

Intimately illuminated by brass pendants, a motif of white scales channel aquatic life throughout the interior. “One cannot avoid the sea of scales, which we introduced as a second skin to the spatial arrangement,” adds B+K cofounder Alon Baranowitz. “They infuse the space with a joyful play of ‘fish scales’ and serve as an open-ended take on nature that sparks our imagination.”

White terrazzo floors recall seafoam meeting the shoreline below exposed concrete ceilings, while opaque and reflective finishes compose a rich backdrop and complement a playful interpretation of the natural geometry of fish. A stainless steel bar is also topped with terrazzo speckled in blues and greens to accent the gray hues of the alabaster communal table. Bleached scrap wood tables further echo simplicity, overlooking the Mediterranean through floor-to-ceiling windows.
