The Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa has emerged from a comprehensive facelift courtesy of Gensler‘s San Francisco office. Impacting both public and private spaces, the redesign draws upon the natural scenery of the coastal California destination and accentuates its existing Craftsman features.

“The project is marked by casual, welcoming social spaces, spectacular views, and elements of Craftsman design,” says Rashana Zaklit, hospitality studio director for Gensler. “The design for the Hyatt Regency Monterey offers an experience of easy luxury that takes full advantage of its unique site and provides a welcome respite and calm sense of renewal.”

Lines between indoor and outdoor environments were blurred across the upgraded property to further reinforce nature through pervasive sightlines. Warm textures and colors in each of the 560 guestrooms reflect the influence of local fog, flora, and fauna, while rich wood detailing further amplifies the Craftsmen vernacular.

The hotel also boasts a new 3,000-square-foot fitness complex, equipped with steam and sauna rooms. In addition to open café concept Central Coast Provisions, F&B options will soon be expanded with the opening of the signature restaurant Sea Root later this spring. The Knuckle Sports Bar is slated to reopen this fall as well.
