Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is now the first hospitality brand to collaborate with the United States Coalition on Sustainability and SustainChain. The new partnership will take Six Senses’ Plastic Free 2022 strategy—which aims to remove and avoid all virgin plastic materials from its hotel and spa operations—one step further.

SustainChain, a technology solution and free platform that activates people on a mission to accelerate action to save humanity, will greatly aid Six Senses’ efforts to compensate for the reduction of disposable plastic across its properties by providing a way to connect with suppliers, collaborative innovation, and fostering meaningful change.

“Our collaboration with SustainChain opens options to collaborate and innovate throughout our value chains, to help deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and, more specifically for us, to achieve our goal of Plastic Free 2022,” says Six Senses vice president of sustainability Jeff Smith. “We’re already seeing huge innovations, and the opportunities to grow together as a movement are incredible.”

Smith and the Six Senses Yao Noi resort in Thailand are also at work creating the prototype for a plastic-free kitchen, which will then expand across the company’s portfolio.

Previously, Six Senses joined forces with the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, which included a pledge signed in 2020 to work with suppliers dedicated to safer alternatives and address the root causes of plastic pollution.
