A new luxury boutique hotel, the Beatrice, is slated to debut this summer within Providence, Rhode Island’s historic Exchange Building, which was constructed in 1887. Named for lifelong Rhode Island resident and community leader Beatrice Temkin, the hotel from Paolino Properties aims to honor its namesake through expression of the site’s natural character. Locally based ZDA Architecture & Interiors will spearhead the elevated interior design scheme, which will showcase the property’s 19th-century details alongside sophisticated décor and tasteful accents.

“The beauty behind the design of the Beatrice is the story embedded within the details of the hotel,” says ZDS managing principal and founder Eric Zuena. “We implemented a contemporary design throughout the hotel’s interiors that complements the warm tones and textures of the building’s exposed brick in a sophisticated and stylish way, while introducing new features that would appeal to today’s traveler—such as a rooftop club and spacious living area.”

A striking atrium oriented around a grand chandelier will punctuate the arrival experience in the lobby. Immersive natural light will also illuminate the contrast of the ornate focal point with brick stone accents and warm neutral tones. The Bellini Restaurant, conceptualized by Ignazio Cipriani, will serve as the Beatrice’s signature F&B venue. Also crowning the hotel will be the private, members-only Bellini Club, which will promote relaxation and socialization against the backdrop of city views. Additionally, the property’s 47 accommodations will range from 300 to 800 square feet as well.
