The Lodge at Sonoma Resort, an Autograph Collection hotel, has unveiled a comprehensive renovation, completed by designers Mark Wilson and Yoko Ishihara of locally based studio Wilson Ishihara.

Anchored by authenticity and a sense of place, the redesign reflects accessibility and craftsmanship synonymous with the setting, and honors the local mission-style vernacular as well. “We wanted the guests to feel like they are entering their friend’s home,” Wilson says. “It is a welcoming sanctuary of unpretentious sophistication that channels inspiration from local legacy.”

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by the hotel’s striking pergola and lush landscaping, which is further punctuated by a fountain equipped with fire features. The warm, open lobby frames sprawling vistas of the surrounding nature through floor-to-ceiling windows, while earthy tones of brown, cream, and gray complement wood and stone surfaces. Thoughtful details—like handwoven Mexican textiles and indigenous-inspired artwork—serve as key focal points alongside a large custom tapestry that depicts a historic representation of Sonoma Square’s Mission building. A live-edge wooden table sourced from a 100-year-old oak tree anchors the seating area as well.

Locally inspired concept Wit & Wisdom serves as the main F&B tenant, while Camber Lay and Benicia’s Kitchen invite guests to enjoy cocktails or café fare, respectively. High Horse Bar, the property’s poolside option, infuses whimsy into the lineup with customizable cabanas, modern fire pits, and a build-your-own sangria station. The Radiance Spa, an apothecary, and nearly 32,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event facilities round out the onsite amenities.

Each of the 182 guestrooms, suites, and cottages have also been revamped to better amplify the spirit of Sonoma. Secluded cottages now boast private outdoor soaking tubs and select rooms feature fireplaces. The accommodations’ redesigned interiors pair an artful flair against rustic natural backdrops, and indigenous basket weaving traditions are honored via a range of newly installed artwork.
