Bettoja Hotels has announced the reopening of the iconic Hotel Mediterraneo in Rome. The glamorous urban retreat returns with a slew of new in-house renovations, which refreshed and restored the Art Deco elements from Mario Loreti’s original design.

The convergence of old and new reaches a glorious peak at Ligea Lounge Bar, the hotel’s new rooftop concept housed across the 10th floor. The upscale vintage atmosphere is characterized by a “Jungle Deco” style, according to Bettoja creative director Stefania Bettoja. “The new lounge is a gathering space where comfort and relaxation blend in an eclectic way with furnishings and lush vegetation,” she adds. “The interior boasts a great attention to detail with a refined elegance.”

Authentic armchairs designed by Loreti and Gustavo Pulitzer Finali in the 1940s were restored and paired with antique floor lamps against a backdrop of natural materials and the hills surrounding the Eternal City. Wood and leather accent armchairs and stools, while velvet adorns a sinuous sofas installed beneath vintage mirrors and gilded wooden frames. Bespoke carpeting extends the hotel’s vibrant color story into the environment as well.
