The historic Harrington Hall Hotel in the Kensington section of London is being reborn as upscale hospitality concept the Other House Set to debut spring 2022, the new hospitality brand from real estate maven Naomi Heaton aims to blur the lines between hotels, serviced apartments, and private rentals. The forthcoming lifestyle property will receive a thorough refurbishment by locally based studio Bergman Design House that will embrace a distinctively British air.

“The spirit of whimsical and English eccentricity was our starting point when designing the Other House—guided by beguiling gardens, interesting architecture, arches, and the beautiful Gloucester Road tube station,” says Marie Soliman, founder and creative director of Bergman.  “We wanted to create a space that is different from anything else that exists in London—this is a hotel, a club, your other house.”

The Other House South Kensington will comprise 200 signature Club Flats for business and leisure travelers that will be equipped with kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms. Accommodations will span eight configurations, ranging from 260 to 580 square feet, as well as two-, three-, and four-bedroom options.

Members and residents will have access to amenities such as two bars, a spa, and fitness center, while spaces like a destination bar and an all-day bistro will be open to the public. Across the interiors, soft velvet sofas will be set against a backdrop of rough, beaten metal accented by floral-inspired lighting designs installed throughout the lobby. Glazed tiles also line spaces along with colorful notes of cognac, blush, burgundy, muddy teal, and silky green.

“Each space is a standout that offers a very bespoke experience, not just in design but also the service,” Soliman adds. “Each front of house space and each apartment communicates with the guest, whether with excitement, joy, exotic, or sometimes provocative, fun, and also serenity. The Other house is a hub of creativity, expression, and passion. It’s a living space that is curated for lifestyle and constantly evolving through art.”
