Brown Hotels has announced the opening of DAVE Red Athens, the first entry into the company’s affordable hotel line “DAVE – Son of a Brown” to open outside of Tel Aviv and the fourth outpost overall. Housed within the former headquarters of the KKE—the Communist Party of Greece—the 87-room property was designed by Greek design firm K-Studio with an industrial-chic ethos and a retro flair.

“Following the success of the three DAVE properties in Tel Aviv, we decided to introduce the concept to Athens, bringing the Brown Hotels’ playful counterpart to the revamped Omonoia Square,” says Brown Hotels founder Leon Avigad. “Situated by the recently opened Brown Acropol, and the soon-to-open Lighthouse Athens, DAVE Red Athens presents a young and lively hospitality offering that is unrivaled in the city.”

The hotel lobby welcomes guests with original vintage elements from the 1970s and memorabilia sourced at flea markets. The ground floor of the hotel is also home to a bar and restaurant, while a clandestine underground nightclub—accessible via a secret door in the signature Brown Hotels library—will open onsite in the near future. A roof terrace crowns the property, populated with a spacious sundeck, gaming, jacuzzi, massage room, and sweeping city vistas.

Each of the accommodations at DAVE Red Athens feature exposed pipes, bare concrete walls, marble surfaces, and oak furnishings. Nostalgic gadgets like vinyl players and rotary phones nod to the retro influence on the design as well.
