Towering 58 stories above the iconic Paseo de Reforma, the Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City marks the brand’s arrival in the city. The 153-room property features an interior design from Toronto-based Chapi Chapo Design that celebrates Mexican art history and maximizes the hotel’s striking glass façade to create a mirror-like experience that captures Mexico City’s past, present, and future.

“We explored untraditional and surreal ways for the guests to gain a new perspective into this ever-evolving city like never before through storytelling. The hotel’s contemporary interior design draws inspiration from Mexico City’s profound influence on surrealism,” says Chapi Chapo partner Tatiana Sheveleva. “Chapi Chapo Design’s modern interior design moves away from colonial influence and stereotypical forms of Mexican art and design by bringing ancient folklore and authentic indigenous storytelling moments to life.”

Influenced by surrealists’ notion of harnessing the spiritual powers of nature, the Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City welcomes visitors with a lobby installation that reinterprets the use of smoke in sacred Mexican ceremonies. Soft colors and textiles are illuminated by dim and natural lighting, while metals, mirrors, and glass reflect the exterior into the interior for a surreal visual experience. Calm shades of smoky ash, deep blue, and metallic fibers further allude to Mexican folklore.

In addition to brand signatures like the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge and the six-room Ritz-Carlton Spa, the hotel features a heated indoor swimming pool, large fitness center, and more than 4,300 square feet of meeting space overlooking Chapultepec Park. The 38th floor is home to Mediterranean concept Samos as well.
