LEVEN has entered the lifestyle hotel space with the launch of its maiden property, LEVEN Manchester. The new brand, which is a joint venture between Wellbrook Hospitality and entrepreneurs Joshua and Ben Senior’s investment vehicle Branco Capital, has plans to grow its portfolio to include coworking, co-living, and retail units as well.

Located in the Village of Manchester, the 42-key hotel occupies an early 20th-century warehouse transformed by LEVEN cofounder and Wellbrook Hospitality principal Timothy Griffin. The 33,000-square-foot structure embodies the tenets of the brand through a residentially informed emphasis on comfort. “We wanted the interior design to be consistent with the pillars of the LEVEN brand,” Griffin says. “Leven means live, so we crafted spaces that would feel not only stylish and sophisticated, but warm, relaxed, and homely. Spaces that could be enjoyed on guests’ own terms.”

Tactile fabrics line the property’s interiors along with a natural materiality comprising wood and brick to complement the original elements of the building, like red brick, cast iron columns, and Crittall windows. The former two-story loading dock dramatically punctuates the arrival experience, beyond which lies a multifunctional lobby that seamlessly transitions from day to night to accommodate both work and play. A brass-topped bar clad with scalloped emerald tiles anchors the space along with a large canteen-style wooden table. Seating vignettes are composed of green and turmeric velvet sofas and leather armchairs installed before original artwork by artist Lillie Bernie.

Each guestroom and suite honors the history of the site, balancing industrial bones with sleek upgrades. Oak parquet or timber floors line the accommodations in contrast to exposed brickwork. Bespoke furniture and standalone bathtubs serve as intriguing focal points, while full kitchens anchor each room with ample storage and appliances.

Phase two of LEVEN Manchester’s development is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2022, and will feature the launch of a 1,700-square-foot subterranean cocktail bar and a 4,000-square-foot restaurant.
