Hilton kicks off 2022 with the opening of Conrad Shanghai, the luxury brand’s maiden outpost in the Chinese metropolis. Towering 66 stories above the heart of People’s Square, the property pays homage to traditional Chinese philosophy and architecture paired with notes of modern glamour that bridge the past, present, and future.

“The latest addition to the Conrad portfolio in the heart of Shanghai is a shining example of how we are looking at every opportunity to bring our meaningful hospitality and intuitive service to iconic destinations,” said Nils-Arne Schroeder, global brand head for Conrad Hotels & Resorts and vice president of luxury and lifestyle for Hilton in Asia Pacific. “I am confident the bold design and modern sensibilities of Conrad Shanghai, paired with our personalized service, will create enriching experiences that will truly inspire luxury travelers from around the world.”

The lobby experience is punctuated by a sweeping rooftop cornice suspended above guests, which perpetuates the sinuous motif that’s found in many of the property’s details—including bedframes and chandeliers. The color palette draws upon the five natural elements, while traditional calligraphy, paintings, and pottery are artfully embedded throughout ornate public and private spaces.

In addition to a range of eclectic F&B options, including a sky lounge, nearly 27,000 square feet of pillar-less event space is housed onsite. A 9,300-square-foot ballroom accommodates up to 600 guests alongside 13 meeting rooms and the exclusive Hu’s Penthouse and Hu’s Atelier spaces on the 64th floor.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the cityscape within each of Conrad Shanghai’s spacious 728 guestrooms and suites. Residential touches distinguish the 60 luxury suites, which are afforded access to an executive lounge on the 44th floor, where comfortable workspaces and complimentary breakfast, tea, and evening cocktails are hosted.

The project’s designers have not been disclosed.
