Conrad Los Angeles to Open this June

Conrad Hotels & Resorts is set to launch its first California hotel, the Conrad Los Angeles. Slated to debut in June, the 305-room luxury hotel will open as part of the Grand LA, a forthcoming mixed-use designed by Frank Gehry. London-based Tara Bernerd & Partners will craft the 28-story hotel to exude an opulent, design-driven sense of place.

“The starting point for the interior design was Gehry’s own unique, captivating, statement architecture, which was a joy to work with,” Tara Bernerd says. “In turn, we have mixed this with influences from the grand tradition of the West Coast Modernist movement, with its emphasis on holistic design and links to nature, together with the architecture and culture of downtown LA itself, where the hotel is located.”

Elements like fluted tile adorning lobby columns will directly channel Gehry’s style, as well as more subtle details like bespoke rugs and stone finishes. Guestrooms will echo the fluting motif in the form of corduroy bedding as well.

In addition to the reception and lobby, the 10th floor will also include two F&B options from José Andrés and ThinkFoodGroup: an open-air Asian concept and a classic Spanish eatery.

The 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace will serve as a key fixture of the hotel’s public areas. Anchored by a pooldeck lined with cabanas, the outdoor space will be defined by a chic and seductive design that blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors, while also embracing the backdrop of downtown LA.
