Cloudbeds Earns Spot on Forbes' List of America's Best Startup Employers for Second Consecutive Year

Remote-first hospitality tech company proves company culture doesn’t have to be built in an office



(SAN DIEGO) — Cloudbeds, the hospitality industry’s fastest-growing technology provider, announced it has been selected by Forbes as one of America’s Best Startup Employers of 2022. The annual list recognizes the top 500 companies in the United States based on employer reputation, employee satisfaction and growth. This is the remote-first company’s second consecutive year on the list.

Founded in 2012, the remote-first company employs nearly 700 employees across 40 countries. In the past year, the company grew its global workforce by 70% with more than 300 new hires across all departments. This recognition adds to the company’s expanding list of awards for its emphasis on its employee experience and company culture, including Built In’s Best Remote-First Companies to Work for in 2022 and Deloitte’s 2021 Technology Fast 500, among others.


The list was determined through a partnership with leading market research firm Statista to identify and evaluate 2,500 U.S. businesses with at least 50 employees founded between 2012 and 2019. Each company was evaluated based on three key factors: employee satisfaction, employer reputation and company growth. The final list ranked the top 500 companies based on over eight million data points.

Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, an annual ranking of the world’s hotels, resorts and other travel destinations and facilities, constitute the longest running and most prestigious program recognizing excellence in the travel industry. This year, more than 700,000 readers from around the world submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe.

Casual Dining - venues that rose above many other establishments, offering relaxed, lively and straightforward food and beverage experiences.

The establishments were judged on the following criteria:
50% - Cuisine, based on taste, creativity and execution
20% - Quality of service
20% - Drinks menu or wine list
10% - Interior design or characterEach judge can only vote for a restaurant if they had eaten at the restaurant in the last 12 months. All past visits to the restaurants were made without identifying themselves as part of the jury. Further, the award organizers, sponsors, short- listed restaurants and jury members kept the restaurant selection and deliberation process confidential before the awards night.

They also certified that they had not been offered nor had they received any incentives as part of the judging process.

July 2018 – Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has been voted #1 World’s Top Hotel in the travel industry’s most prestigious awards, in recognition of the unique location, architecture and experiences that connect guests with the cultural heart of Bali. WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE HOTELIER AWARDS ASIA 2018

Hospitality professionals shortlisted from over 70 international hotel brands for their professional excellence

May 23, 2018 – Singapore – The fifth annual Hotelier Awards held a spectacular event on 23rd May 2018, at the Sofitel Singapore City Centre to recognise outstanding individuals’ professional excellence across the hospitality sector in Asia.

As a benchmark for professional excellence in Asia, the awards have grown in prominence over the years to become an unmissable event in the industry calendar. The celebration brought together over 350 hoteliers and industry professionals, who gathered for the fifth edition to await the announcement of this year’s award winners.

2018 saw a 117% increase in applications, from over 100 properties across 12 different countries. Winners of each category were decided by the expert judging panel through a two-round process and based on a combination of facts presented in the applications, interviews, and testimonials.

The 17 award winners were presented with their prestigious trophies by one of the five judges alongside a representative from the partnering companies. This year’s partners included Nespresso who were supporting the platform for the fourth year running, as well as Pernod Ricard, BMW, Hertz and The Show company. The judging panel was comprised of experts who, between them, hold a significant amount of industry specific skills and knowledge.

Taking home the “General Manager of the Year” Award for Asia was Matthew Cooper, General Manager- JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square. “Wow what a surprise! 2018 also marked the debut of The Hotelier Awards Asia hosting its awards ceremony in Singapore. SWISS-BELHOTEL INTERNATIONAL HOTELS IN INDONESIA ENDORSED AS CHINESE-FRIENDLY BY CTRIP TRAVEL SERVICES

INDONESIA – Swiss-Belhotel International, the award-winning global hospitality chain, is officially Chinese friendly after Ctrip, the leading online travel agency in China, selected 7 of the brand’s properties in Indonesia for inclusion in the Chinese Preferred Hotels (CPH) program.

The CPH initiative was established by Ctrip to ensure that international hotels meet the needs of travellers from China – one Indonesia’s largest source market. To be selected for CPH status, the Chinese travel services provider requires hotels to offer an introduction to the hotel and its facilities in simplified Mandarin, as well as providing assistance in spoken Mandarin. Hotels must also enable guests to settle their bill using Union Pay.

Other requirements include serving Chinese dishes for breakfast, such as congee and steamed buns, providing a kettle and complimentary tea in every room, as well as free Wi-Fi. Each property must also achieve a guest rating above 3.8 on the Ctrip platform.

Thanks to the commendation, Swiss-Belhotel International properties in Indonesia will now be filtered on Ctrip search pages and included in CPH results. Specially designed online icons highlighting stays with outstanding facilities and services for Chinese guests will distinguish selected properties from other hotels. Each awarded hotel can also display a certificate to show its qualification as part of the CPH programme.

According to Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics, since 2016, more Chinese tourists have visited Indonesia than any other country in the Southeast Asia region with some 1.43 million trips made in that same year. In 2017, Bali alone welcomed more than a million Chinese visitors in the first eight months of the year, a hike of 58% compared to 2016.

Mr Gavin M Faull, Chairman and CEO of Swiss-Belhotel International is clear about the importance of accommodating Chinese guests in Indonesia as part of the brand’s growth strategy.

The Hotelier Awards 2018, the region’s leading annual independent awards recognising the finest talents in the hotel industry is currently accepting applications for the Asia competition (excluding Greater China) until the 16th February. The 2018 winners will be announced during a gala dinner ceremony in Singapore on the 23rd May. 

The Awards were launched in China in 2014 off the back of explosive growth in the hospitality industry. The platform is unique and independently run, celebrating the dedicated individuals of the hotel industry, rather than just focusing on the hotel properties themselves.

It is an opportunity to honour the outstanding achievements of these individuals, from General Managers, to front line staff who are the best in their field and often fly under the radar or shy away from the limelight. Hotels put forward their finest staff and the nominations are then put to the judging panel of global experts from the travel and hospitality industry.

Now in it’s fifth year, the Awards will be split into two competitions between The Hotelier Awards Asia and The Hotelier Awards Greater China. The Asia platform welcomes applications from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan & South Korea. The Greater China competition will welcome applicants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan.
